The first class in the School of Disciples line-up is called Life Maps & StoryBoards. It’s a personal-story-approach to exploring faith and how it has been part of your life whether you’ve been intentional or unintentional about it. By the time it’s all said and done, you’ll have taken a walk through memories and experiences searching for the God-element in all its shapes and disguises.
This course will utilize some activities like heart maps and mind maps, prayer reflections by Macrina Wiederkehr, OSB, Scripture study and journaling, to develop a visual representation of your life story. We’ll explore the tradition of oral storytelling and how family history and faith practices are handed down between generations. Included in the discussion is some reading and hearing about how the Christian narrative is expressed through the life and ministry of Jesus.
The course is intended to be challenging in the sense of requiring the student to engage the whole self and to commit to being part of the process. It will not be overwhelmingly time-consuming nor does it require any previous knowledge or understanding of doctrines or dogma of any kind. All students ages 17 and older are encouraged to participate.
Don’t wait too long… the registration deadline is coming up on September 13. It’s going to be a wonderful adventure!
