We live in an art economy these days.
I learned this phrase from Seth Godin. He’s been splashing it all over his past few books… including the latest one: The Icarus Deception. What does it mean?
It means that we are all artists today. Which is a foreign idea… because most of us think we don’t do art.
But we should. Do art.
We are harangued by the notion that art is painting / sculpting / writing / movie-making / crafting / acting / singing / maybe even dancing.
Truth is… everyone of us in an artist in our own right. No matter what we do… we have the potential to create art. If we choose.
What’s the catch, you ask?
Art is the act of giving your most generous self to the world… in whatever form / skill / talent / career / gift / way you can. Art comes from the heart of the giver and can never be judged as worthy or unworthy by any external critic. Art is art when it is given in service to others.
And so… life is one big art project. So cool.
